EXCITE 2020

The focal point of the EXCITE initiative of the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning, which has now been launched for the second time, is the promotion of outstanding projects in teaching and research or in the combination of teaching and research. We are looking for projects that are distinguished by their special innovative character and that make lasting contributions to the further development and profiling of the faculty. An integration into the main research areas of the Vienna University of Technology and the faculty are required.

Only young scientists (PreDoc, PostDoc, SenSc or SenLect or SenArt.) of the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning are eligible to apply, whereby coordination with the management of the research area is mandatory. Cooperation with external scientists or colleagues from research and practice is possible. Especially female colleagues are invited to submit their application.

The funding volume totals EUR 50,000. In addition, two projects are to be funded at EUR 15,000 and EUR 35,000, respectively. The reference to the respective amount of funding refers to the duration or the scope of the project and has to be worked out in the funding applications.

The projects must be completed and completed within a period of 6 months to a maximum of 12 months. The funds to be allocated can be used both to finance staff costs and for publications, exhibitions and / or other investments that are relevant to the project in question. It is not possible to increase the number of PreDoc hours beyond the 30-hour limit.

APPLICATION

Abstract with max. 450 words (3,000 characters). The summary will inform potential reviewers about the project. Informal application for a maximum of 10 pages (appropriate to the scope of the project, excluding the attachment) with a detailed description of the project and its relevance for the teaching or research (1), the promoters and cooperation partners (2) of the objectives and the innovative character (3), the methodology and the way of working (4), the expected results (5) of the structural effectiveness and the contributions to the profile formation of the Faculty of Architecture and Spatial Planning (6) and the Dessimination strategies (7)

The application can be submitted in both German and English.

EVALUATION PROCEDURES

The applications are submitted to a peer review process. Incomplete applications or applications with formal defects are not taken into consideration and eliminated. The decan is has to receive at least two written opinions on the project proposal of independent experts. The evaluation in the peer review is carried out by a score (0 to 10 points per criterion / total max. 50 points). A rating above 25 points is a prerequisite for passing on to the selection committee.

-Potential individual development / career opportunities through the project In addition to a point rating, the reviewers also obtain short qualitative statements.

SELECTION COMMISSION

The selection committee consists of the Dean and the Dean of Studies as well as the Vice Rector for Research of the Vienna University of Technology. The Commission takes the decision on the basis of the results of the peer review process.

SUBMISSION

All documents must also be submitted in digital form on a storage medium in pdf format.
