II. LOGIC, LOGISTICS, AND LOGISTICALITY

Logic works through inference, a word derived from 'move forward.' And indeed this form of
thinking has, as Denise Ferreira da Silva teaches us, a firm linearity in its structure.
Today, with what might be called Logistical Capitalism, everything moves forward, and everything
seeks access. What happens when this relentless movement toward access encounters the
resistance of no resistance in the operations of what Fred Moten and I have called logisiticality.
We might understand logisticality as a historically derived capacity to reconstitute entanglement
in the face of being straightened out by the line, which in turn provokes the line's vengeful return.
This state of affairs will in turn ask us to contemplate the connection between access and affordances.

Stefano Harney is Professor of Transversal Aesthetics at the Academy of Media Arts Cologne.
He is also Honorary Professor in the Institute of Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice at the University of British Columbia. 2022/23 he joins the Department of Visual Culture as Professorial Research Fellow.
