TU Awards
Hannspeter Winter Award of the TU Wien for female graduate students
The Hannspeter Winter Award is recognizes research achievements in the context of doctoral thesis projects carried out by female doctoral graduates at the TU Wien. In addition to the recognition of outstanding scientific achievement, the prize seeks to draw attention to the exceptional contributions of women in the field of research and technology. All female graduates of TU Wien doctoral studies who have not yet reached the age of 35 by the end of the submission period are eligible for nomination. Each faculty can nominate one applicant per year. The award is granted once a year to a woman in the amount of €10,000. These are the award recipients since 2008. More information is available here.
Ressel Award of the TU Wien for doctorate-holders
The Ressel Award recognizes research achievements in the context of doctoral thesis projects that are directly related to interdisciplinary, third-party funded research and conducted in cooperation with companies as research partners. All degree-holders of TU Wien doctoral studies who have not yet reached the age of 35 by the end of the submission period can be nominated. The nomination has to be made by the supervisor of the thesis. Each faculty may nominate one applicant per year. The Ressel Award, a sum of €13,000, is awarded annually and is earmarked for scientific research. These are the award recipients since 2002. For more information, please click here.
Awards by external institutions
Award of Excellence of the Ministry for outstanding doctoral thesis
Since 2008, the annual State Award of Excellence by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research has rewarded the 40 best doctoral thesis of the past academic year throughout Austria. It is financed by Higher Education government funding and is endowed with €3,000. Nominations are made by universities. The ceremonial presentation of the award takes place in December of each year.
