The admission procedure to the doctoral programme varies, depending on where the master's degree was completed. The TU Wien’s Admissions Office is in charge of this:

Degree-holders from Austrian universities of applied sciences
Numerous (Austrian) university of applied sciences degree programmes are dealt with in a BMWF government regulation: ‘Admission of university of applied sciences master's degree programmes and university of applied sciences diploma programmes to doctoral studies. For degree-holders who have completed these (and comparable) university of applied sciences courses, the volume of additional courses to be completed can therefore be up to 44 hours, which corresponds to 60 ECTS credits. The may specify additional courses to be taken. Further information on admissions is available from the TU Wien’s Admissions Office

International doctoral students
Information for international students regarding legal and professional entry requirements, application and admission procedures, and entry and stay in Austria can be found here and on the website of the TU Wien’s Admissions Office.

Joint supervision of a doctoral thesis by two universities (cotutelle thesis)
Under the cotutelle procedure, doctoral students acquire a doctoral degree that is awarded jointly by two universities in two different countries. The participating universities work closely together in the selection, supervision, and assessment of doctoral students; they accept every part of the cotutelle programme performed at the other university. Doctoral students must be admitted to both universities for the entire duration of the agreed term. Further information can be found in the TU Wien Guidelines for International Study Programmes. The TU Wien Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and the Dean's Office of the Faculty are in charge of approving cotutelle agreements.

Study fees and subsidies
Admission is confirmed once you have paid the student contribution (ÖH contribution) or tuition fees (third-country nationals). The TU Wien's Admissions Office will answer any other questions in writing, by telephone or in person.

Obligation to pay tuition fees
In principle, tuition fees are only due at public universities in Austria if the standard study duration, as specified in the curriculum (plus an allowance of two additional semesters), is exceeded. Doctoral studies are therefore subject to tuition fees from the 9th semester onwards — the tuition fees are €363.36 per semester.

A tuition fees requirement starting in the first semester applies to non-degree students and third-country nationals — at the rate of €726.72 per semester. More information is available here.

Student fee
In addition to the tuition fees, a student fee for the legal representation of students' interests (ÖH, the Austrian National Union of Students) must be paid each semester. More information is available here.

Scholarships and research funding
It is possible to apply for funding for your studies. In the Austrian database for scholarships and research funding (at the OeAD, Agency for Education and Internationalisation), you will find an overview of scholarships and research funding options. Also, the European Funding Guide offers scholarships, grants, and awards with which to fund your studies in the EU.
