Registration for Courses and Design Studios

Further information on the registration for study courses and design studios can be found here

Besides a growing number of bachelor’s and master’s courses in Architecture and Spatial Planning that are taught in English, as well as the Building Science and Technology master’s programme, which will be entirely in English, the Faculty for Architecture and Spatial Planning courses require a good knowledge of German.

(Note: only certain courses of the Building Science study course are open to exchange students. A list can be obtained in the International Office on request).

Course Catalogue / Registration

All lectures offered in term time are listed in the lecture-information system TISS (menu item Education). Here you will find all the individual course information on the supervisor, ECTS points, compulsory and optional subjects, including application and examination times.

Usually, you register for each course separately (see application period in TISS course description). For Vorlesung/Lecture (VO) NO registration is needed – only for the end-of term exam.

Architecture – Registration for Design Studios, Theoretical Projects and Modules

Due to the great demand for the architecture course, there will be a separate registration (via application pools) for the following courses one week before the beginning of the term:

(Usually the Design Studios in the bachelor course are called Studios and they have the standard application procedure in TISS)

You can find course descriptions for the design studios in TISS and in the following documents:

In the Application Pool you can choose three studios according to your preference – you will be placed in one of them.
Please enter ERASMUS in the commentary field to guarantee your place in the favourite studio.

We recommend attending design projects for max. 15-20 ECTS / term – the workload is very high.

Arrival date – students of architecture

It is recommended that the students of the architecture course arrive ca. two weeks before the beginning of the term in Vienna so that they can register in time or can take part in the applications for designing, optional seminars and master modules.

If you miss the application, make sure you take part in the Erasmus Welcome Event at the beginning of the term!

German Language Courses

It is urgently recommended to book additional (language) courses alongside your main courses in order to perfect your knowledge of German. Information on the preparatory intensive language courses and courses for technical German can be obtained from the homepage of the International Office.
