Application procedure Architecture

ATTENTION: Starting in 2026, application deadlines for Bachelor's degree programs with limited enrollment will end significantly earlier (registration period: April 1st to May 4th, 2026). Ranking tests will take place in July!

625 places are allocated per academic year for the Bachelor's degree programme in Architecture. Places are allocated as part of a two-stage selection procedure in the first semester.

The prerequisite for participation in the selection procedure is online registration in the TU's own campus software TISS. Online registration is carried out once a year before the start of the winter semester and is valid for the winter semester and the following summer semester. The second stage of the selection procedure is offered in the winter semester and in the summer semester and must be completed in the semester that was specified during online registration and in which admission was therefore also granted.

Online registration starts on Wednesday, 1st April 2026 12:00 and runs until Tuesday, 4th May 2026 23:59.

After a formal review of all submissions, it will be decided whether there will be a ranking test for the Bachelor's degree programme in Architecture. The review will take place at the beginning of July.

Please pay the fee, which will be confirmed by TISS by Tuesday, 4th May 2026.

The Architecture ranking test will take place on Thursday, 10th July 2026 if required.

By enrolling in a group for the Orientation Course and Contemporary Architecture exercise, you are automatically registered for the other exercises of the first semester (Drawing and Visual Language and Descriptive Geometry). You need a matriculation number to register in TISS, i.e. you must already be enrolled. Please bear this in mind with regard to the registration deadline for the course.

Persons who have been admitted to the Bachelor's degree programme in Architecture (study code 033 243) at TU Wien for the academic year 25/26 and persons who have to repeat both parts of the orientation course (i.e. part orientation course and part contemporary architecture) please register in the regular groups (A1-a-E 20-b) for the course Orientation Course and Contemporary Architecture.

If only one of the two parts is missing, please enrol in the group designated for the missing part.

Students who wish to start their studies in the summer semester must register for the course Orientation Course and Contemporary Architecture in the summer semester (see below).

‘Orientation Course and Contemporary Architecture’ is an introductory and compulsory course at the beginning of the degree programme in the 1st semester. It consists of an intensive workshop week (Tuesday, 1 October 2024 - Monday, 7 October 2024), which starts in small groups in presence with the orientation course part and then continues weekly throughout the semester with the contemporary architecture part.

Registration for the groups in TISS starts on 2th February 2026 at 9:00 am and ends on 23rd February 2026.
