Architect. 1969 Born in Tokyo. 1991 she graduated from Department of Housing, Faculty of Home Economics, Japan Women’s University. In 1992 Momoyo Kaijima established the Atelier Bow-Wow with Yoshiharu Tsukamoto. 1994 she completed the Master Course of Architecture, Tokyo Institute of Technology, from 1996-97 she studied at the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich. Completing her Doctor Course in 2000 at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, she taught from 2000-2009 as an assistant professor at the Art and Design School of the University of Tsukuba, from 2009-2022 as an associate professor.
Momoyo Kaijima taught also as a visiting professor at the Department of Architecture at Harvard GSD (2003, 2016), guest professor at ETHZ (2005-07), as well as at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (2011-12), Rice University (2014-15), Delft University of Technology (2015-16), Columbia University (2017) and Yale School of Architecture(2023) and currently at The Rothwell Co-Chairs 2024-2026.

In 2012 she received the RIBA International Fellowship.

She was the curator of Japan Pavilion at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. 2022 she received the Wolf Prize Laureate in Architecture. From 2017 she has been serving as a Professor of Architectural Behaviorology at ETHZ and from 2024 president of NPO Cheer Art.

Architektin, geboren 1969 in Tokio, 1991 machte sie ihren Abschluss an der Abteilung für Wohnungsbau der Fakultät für Hauswirtschaft der Japanischen Frauenuniversität. 1992 gründete Momoyo Kaijima zusammen mit Yoshiharu Tsukamoto das Atelier Bow-Wow. 1994 schloss sie den Masterstudiengang für Architektur am Tokyo Institute of Technology ab, von 1996-97 studierte sie an der Eidgenössischen Technischen Hochschule (ETH) in Zürich. Nach Abschluss ihres Doktoratsstudiums im Jahr 2000 am Tokyo Institute of Technology lehrte sie von 2000-2009 als Assistenzprofessorin an der Kunst- und Designschule der Universität Tsukuba, von 2009-2022 als außerordentliche Professorin.
Momoyo Kaijima lehrte auch als Gastprofessorin am Department of Architecture an der Harvard GSD (2003, 2016), als Gastprofessorin an der ETHZ (2005-07) sowie an der Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (2011-12), an der Rice University (2014-15), an der Delft University of Technology (2015-16), an der Columbia University (2017) und an der Yale School of Architecture (2023) und derzeit an The Rothwell Co-Chairs 2024-2026 in Sydney.

Im Jahr 2012 erhielt sie das RIBA International Fellowship.

Sie war die Kuratorin des japanischen Pavillons auf der 16. Internationalen Architekturausstellung - La Biennale di Venezia. 2022 wurde sie mit dem Wolf Prize Laureate in Architecture ausgezeichnet. Seit 2017 ist sie Professorin für architektonische Verhaltenskunde an der ETHZ und seit 2024 Präsidentin der NPO Cheer Art.
